We have opportunities for you in one of the largest nurseries growing ornamental plants in the UK. With sites in Hampshire near Winchester, Romsey and Petersfield.

Student Placements
Hillier has employed students since the 1940s, providing an unrivalled opportunity to gain experience in growing and marketing a wide range of hardy nursery shrubs and trees.
We offer Student Placements of between six months to one year, to pre-college, Higher and National Diploma middle year, and overseas students. Placements are based on our Container Nurseries near Romsey or our Tree Nursery near Petersfield and can, on occasion, be split between the two. We are usually able to assist students find accommodation locally, either in a family home nearby - or in one of our student houses. Working a basic 39 hour week, most of the student training and development will come from instruction while doing the job. You will also enjoy active encouragement to learn as much as possible from our team of professional growers and sales and marketing staff.

Description          

One of the UK's leading horticultural companies, we are seeking a full time experienced Personnel Administrator to provide generalist support in a small but busy Human Resource Department, reporting directly to the Personnel Manager.

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years practical experience in a personnel role.  Hold the CIPD certificate, or be working towards qualification.  You will have good people skills, a systematic and flexible approach, and be able to work accurately under pressure.  You will have good IT and keyboard skills including Excel and Word, and be able to demonstrate a high degree of literacy and the ability to provide accurate and efficient administration support to the Personnel Manager

Salary & Benefits

Description          

We are seeking an enthusiastic person to join our team to assist in the Marketing and Sales Department.  You will have particular responsibility for the weekly 'Hotlist' and Stock Availability List which is sent to customers, as well as updating the website.  Additional tasks will include supporting the work of the Marketing Manager. 

The Sales role will primarily involve tele-sales support for the Sales team.  This will be almost entirely calls to existing customers rather than cold calling.

You will

·          Have good knowledge of hardy nursery stock

·          Have a flair for marketing

·          Have good IT skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.  PowerPoint and website experience would be an advantage.

·          Be a strong team player.

Reporting to the Nursery Manager, this position carries the high level of accountability associated with the day to day runing of a nursery section.  The post holder will have responsibility for ensuring that they and their team acheive set production objectives within set budgets.  Personal and professional qualifies required: experience of commercial crop production; self-motivation and the ability to lead from the front; ability to develop staff in line with the company's IIP status; good organisational and communication skills; the ability to work to agreed deadlines; innovative thinking and proactivity in the development and implementation of new ideas.

Applications are invited for the position of Plant Area Manager at our Newbury Garden Centre.  The successful candidate will be an experienced supervisor, capable not only of running a successful plant area, but also taking responsibility for the Garden Centre as a whole.  Newbury has a highly successful plant area offering a wide range of interesting plant material and high standards of presentation and customer advice.  It draws customers from a wide area.  The successful candidate will have a flair for innovation and presentation, together with an eye for maintenance and housekeeping.  Applicants must possess sound commercial acumen and recognise the need to maximise profit.  They should have a good plant knowledge and understanding of the use of plants in gardens, together with recognising the importance of excellent customer service.
